“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?“ (Luke 6:46)
Recently, I had a very vivid dream which I believe was a message from the Lord. In the dream, my husband and I were touring a house which was for sale, and the longer we looked at the house with its many bedrooms and assorted luxury features, I found myself thinking, “why are we buying this house Lord, it’s too big?”
The reason it seemed so “odd”, was that lately we have been very serious about downsizing into a small a home as possible – not only for monetary reasons, but also to free up time to pursue other things. We are in the season of the “empty nesters”, and wish to spend less time maintaining a home.
As I was contemplating the dream, the Holy Spirit brought the verse to my mind: “But why do you call me Lord, Lord, but do not do the things which I say?”
Then it occurred to me that the Lord was reminding me that many times His plans are “not” my plans. It is up to me to obey and follow His guidance – even if at the time it just doesn’t seem to make sense……..
Our relationship needs to be based on “His” terms -
He is God – and I am “not” !
