In a moment of weakness, we can get into trouble………
Sometimes this trouble comes when we are perhaps “hanging around” doing nothing – a vulnerable time when temptation can hit us with our guard down. Our weak area becomes a target, a button to be pushed. Sometimes that button is pushed by our own selves or by Satan’s influence.
I recently watched two brothers hanging around outside their home. One brother was high school age, the other around five years old. They had brought their backpacks and lawn chairs to the driveway to be loaded into one of the vehicles parked out front. While they were waiting for their parents to come out, they slowly became restless………as time wore on, they started to wrestle, then to pick up stones which they then threw at each other…….basically proceeded to get into trouble the longer they waited with nothing to do!
We are in Biblical company with this problem – King David himself fell to temptation with Bathsheba during a time of weakness – a devastating time in his life with an enormous impact on his life and others around him.
Whatever our circumstances, we can thank God for His infinite mercy and that “His strength is made perfect in our weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9)
We may fall – but He who lives in us -
will not!
